Let's Meet the Cast!


Ada Webster


Ada is entering their sophomore year of high school. This is their first year at Spotlight. Some of their favorite roles they’ve played are Miss Adelaide in Guys & Dolls and Fairy in Tinker Bell. They are super excited to play a basketball boy and are ready to get their head in the game. No dolls.


AJ Greenich


AJ is a 17 year old senior at Ocean Lakes High School. This is his second year in Spotlight Productions. His favorite role is definitely Ryan in High School Musical. AJ enjoys roller skating and voice acting. He would like to thank his little sister Briella. She is a big reason why he is doing theatre. 


Amelia Pearson


Amelia Pearson just graduated with honors from Kellam High School. Amelia was the president of chorus and was student directed two choirs her senior year. Amelia is excited about her next journey at Coastal Carolina University where she will be pursuing her BFA in Musical Theatre. Amelia has been involved in theatre since she was 7 years old and has always found her home on the stage. Some of her favorite roles include Ms Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins, Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Pearl in SpongeBob, and Rona in Putnam County Spelling Bee. When not on the stage, Amelia is an ambassador Girl Scout, loves the beach and being with her friends. She would like to thank all those who have been instrumental in helping her reach her goals Hugh Copeland, Lisa Wallace, Kathi Lee Wilson, and Garry Manasco. In addition, Dr. Sullivan, Mr. Winslow, and Ms. Melody and everyone at spotlight who makes everyone feel at home from day 1! Last but not least, a huge thanks to her parents who not only supported her goal in life but dreamed it with her!


Ana Mercogliano


This is Ana’s fourth year at Spotlight. She was previously in Willy Wonka Jr., Newsies and Fame. She is 16 and going into her junior year at the Governor’s STEM Academy at Landstown High School. She enjoys playing violin, reading and playing video games.


Annabelle Knight


Annabelle is a rising seventh grader who goes to Great Neck Middle School. This is her first time at Spotlight. She enjoys cheer and singing. She wants to thank her family for their continued support.


Avelyn Bollen


This is Avelyn’s first year with Spotlight! Next year, Avelyn will be attending the Governor’s School for the Arts’ Musical Theatre Department. Some of her favorite roles include Amanda Thripp in Matilda with Virginia Stage Company, Annie in Annie at Old Donation School and Brigitta Von Trapp in the Sound of Music with the Virginia Opera. She would like to thank the cast and crew for this experience!


Brian Ranger Jr.


Brian is 13 and is going into his 8th grade year at Kilgore Gifted Center. He has been in 4 plays before High School Musical. His most memorable role is Chip in Beauty and the Beast Jr. Brian likes to sing and dance in his free time. He would like to thank his family and friends for their support and the entire cast for getting him through the show. 


Celia Marie Godfrey


Celia has been acting for 7 years. She just turned 14. Some of her favorite roles include one of the 3 little pigs in Shrek and an Oompa Loompa in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Celia’s main inspiration is her family. She is very dedicated in every role she plays!


Charlie Bodenstein

Dorothy Glenn


Dorothy is 14 years old and going into her freshman year at Peninsula Catholic High School. This is Dorothy Corrine Glenn’s first year at Spotlight Productions! In the years prior Dorothy participated and performed at the Hurrah Players summer camp, and she has taken on roles such as Clara in “The Nutcracker,” Angel Gabriel in her school Christmas Pageant and the head canter in her school choir. Dorothy would like to give thanks to her parents, for driving her to classes, her brother, for helping her rehearse lines, and her Meme, for gifting her with her very first musical experience.


Elizabeth Marsh


Elizabeth is entering her sophomore year of high school in the Health Sciences Academy at Bayside High School. She was an ensemble member of Seussical the Musical Jr. in 6th Grade and played speaking and solo roles in the musical showcase of her 8th grade year. Elizabeth looks forward to rejoining the drama club after taking a break. Despite a complete lack of athletic ability, she plays a basketball player in High School Musical.


Emma Thornhill


Emma has been attending Spotlight for four years now. Some roles they have played include Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka, Iago in Aladdin and Ensemble in School House Rock Jr. They would like to thank their parents for being so helpful throughout their time in theater and Spotlight. Emma is going into the 8th grade at Plaza Middle School and attending the IB Program there.


Gianna Stevens


Gianna is an upcoming sophomore at First Colonial that has joined Spotlight to get a couple of levels on her competitors during the 2022-2023 school year. She hopes you enjoy everybody's performance thoroughly. She also hopes that her family recognizes her onstage. No dolls.


Grace Dunphy


Grace is entering her sophomore year at Princess Anne in the IB Program. This is her first year at Spotlight. She has many different interests such as dancing and acting. She also plays soccer for Rush, dances at Bella Dance and does cheerleading for P.A.. She is very excited to perform at Spotlight Productions and hopes to make new friends.


Haley McLeod-Dutcher

Martha Cox

Haley is a local upcoming ninth-grade student for Green Run Collegiate. She has been involved in musical theater since age 5 through a local theater company, the Hurrah Players, where she participated in various shows. She has also studied ballet with a local dance company and piano. She is enjoying her second summer with Spotlight and is excited about her role in this summer's production this year. Some of her favorite roles over the years have been Claude in the "Best Christmas Pageant Ever", the baker in "Beauty and the Beast", and one of the music kids in "FAME!". She is glad to be back at Spotlight and happy to be reunited with friends from some of her past productions.


Jack D'Orio

Jack Scott

Jack D’Orio is a rising 8th grader at Plaza Middle School. This is his 3rd year at Spotlight and he is very excited to share the role of Jack and Jessie Scott with his friend Emma. Some of his favorite roles include Tom from Schoolhouse Rock, Aladdin from Aladdin and a tree from a show in first grade.


John Post

Troy Bolton

John is a recent graduate of Windsor High School (WHS)! Over the last decade John has worked on over 45 shows In Hampton Roads, most recently he directed Frozen Jr. at WHS he also was featured as Olaf in the production! Other favorites include Electric Skate in The Spongebob Musical at Virginia Wesleyan, Christian Bechdel in Fun Home with Virginia Stage Company, and José “Joe” Vegas in Fame the Musical with Spotlight Productions! Currently John is in rehearsal for Pippin at Little Theatre of Norfolk, August 5th-28th, he plays Lewis and is Pippin’s Understudy! In the fall John will be attending Virginia Wesleyan University for a double major of Theatre and Political Science! He would like to thank all the amazing people in his life; Mom, Dad, Jenifer Wylie, Missy Sullivan, Melody Waters, Virginia Beatty, and all the other production staff of Pippin and High School Musical!


Jon Vincent Yap


This is Jon’s first year at Spotlight Productions. Even though he didn’t get the role he expected to get when he auditioned, he’s still happy to be playing the cello playing skater dude. Jon will be entering his sophomore year following this production. Not to be confused with John!


Julia Dodd


Julia is 14 years old and is a student at Norfolk Academy. This is her first year doing a Spotlight Camp production. One of her favorite roles she has played was Wendy in Peter Pan even though she never got to perform the role due to COVID. She would like to thank her family for all the support they have given over the years.


Kylie Flanagan


Kylie is a rising 7th grader at Great Neck Middle School where she is on the cheer and softball team. Kylie has had roles in productions of School House Rock Live produced by Spotlight Productions, Twelve Dancing Princesses produced by Generic Theatre for Kids, and many more. Kylie is incredibly excited to be part of the cast of High School Musical.


Kyrielle Bonner


Kyrielle Bonner is 13 years old and a rising 8th grader. This is her first show with Spotlight! Her hobbies include singing, dancing, acting, and playing the ukulele. Her most recent roles are Lily St. Regis in Annie Jr, and Babette in Beauty and the Beast Jr.


Leila Faivre


Leila is 13 years old and has been doing theater since she was 8. Leila has been in 11 shows and is excited to be part of High School Musical.  Leila’s hobbies include swimming, diving, painting and playing with her dog Bodhi.  She hopes you enjoy the show and dedicates it to her family who has never stopped supporting her! Go Wildcats!


Libby Marquez


Libby Marquez is a rising 7th grader at Great Neck Middle School. This is the first of what she hopes will be many more Spotlight productions.


Libby Williams

Libby Williams is a rising 10th grader at Nanesmond River High School.This will be her fourth year at Spotlight. Her favorite plays she has been in have been Charlie in the Chocolate Factory (Violet) and the Music Man (Grace Shinn). She would like to thank her family and friends for everything.


Luna Surjana


Luna is a seventh grader who enjoys writing and reading as well as acting. This is her second year with Spotlight and she's very excited for the show. She also enjoys singing and writing songs which is part of the reason she likes musicals. She would like to thank her family and friends especially her brother Élan for enduring many late night rehearsals with her.


Macy Peyton


Macy is a rising junior at Peninsula Catholic High School. She is the proud Vice President of The PC Players and has played roles as Fiona in Shrek and Mabel in Fame. She would like to dedicate her performance to Lou. Please support the Louis Zambrana Theatre Scholarship at NSU. Long live Lou!


Madeline (Maddie) Dieter


Maddie (Mads) is going into the 10th grade at First Colonial High School. She enjoys going to the beach and playing volleyball. This is her first year in Spotlight. Maddie has done theatre in the past and her favorite role is Annie. 


Maggie Root

Maggie Root is a rising senior at Kecoughtan High School, where she is enrolled in the Performing Arts academy, and this her 3rd show with Spotlight Productions. Maggie has been acting for 4 years and dancing for 12. She currently takes vocal lessons with Mary Matthews. Maggie would like to thank her friends and family, who she wouldn’t be here without.


Malachi Windom

Malachi Windom is a 2022 graduate that is planning to be attending Liverpool institute for performing arts this fall. He has a huge passion for acting. He likes to hangout with friends, travel, cook, and read comic books. 


Maya Lysinger


Maya Lysinger recently graduated from Salem High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy as a Vocal major and Theatre minor. She is entering her freshman year of college and will be attending Shenandoah Conservatory, pursuing her BFA for Musical Theatre in the fall. This is her first year performing with Spotlight Productions. Some of her favorite roles include “Jasmine” in Aladdin, “The Strawberry Seller” in Oliver, and “The Witch” in Into The Woods. Maya’s very excited to pursue Musical Theatre, and hopes to be on Broadway in the near future.


Molly Weber


Molly is a rising eighth grader at Hickory Middle School. She is so excited to perform in High School Musical, especially since she’s loved it all her life! (Even if it came out before she was born) When she’s not singing and dancing, Molly likes to swim, read, and play with her dogs. She’d like to thank her family for all of their support during camp this year, proving we’re all in this together.


Nahom Gaines


Nahom is a graduate going into Film School in a 2023. They have been participating in spotlight for their seventh year now. Some of their favourite shows to work in have been Newsies, Oliver, and Women of Lockerbie. Or more recently many roles in “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors”. They would like to thank the lovely cast they’ve gotten to work with.


Rachael Marsh


Rachael is a rising ninth-grader and will be attending Salem High School for the Visual and Performing Arts Academy. She sings with her church choir and has since she was nine years old. She is now a regular cantor in the choir and enjoys leading people in song every week. She is very excited to be working with Spotlight Productions for the first time!


Sarah Haywood


Sarah likes to cook, play basketball, play the violin and a little piano. In her free time, I like to go to the pool. She would describe herself as a kind, caring and patient person.


Skylar Witte


Skylar has had 4 years of experience with Theatre. She has been in the Lion King as Nala, The Little Mermaid as Flounder, Scrooge as Village Gril, Aladdin as the Genie and Sleeping Beauty as the Fairy Godmother. Skylar is very excited to be in the summer performance of High School Musical.


Sol McGhee


Sol McGhee is a freshman at Maury High School, and a first timer here at Spotlight Productions! They enjoy musical theatre, sports, video games, and hanging out with friends. They have enjoyed their experience at Spotlight, and can’t wait to see what comes next year! They would also like to thank their family for introducing them to musical theatre, because without them, they might have never tried it out.


Sophia Gardner


This is Sophia’s 4th year at Spotlight. She is so excited to be playing Sharpay, the role of her dreams. Sophia is going into her junior year at Kempsville High School and the Governor’s School for the Arts where she is in the Musical Theatre Department. She would like to thank her friends and family for their constant support.
